About COREu

About COREu

COREu is the largest research and innovation project in the field of carbon capture and storage (CCS) funded by a European programme. Its goal is to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future, targeting a reduction of 6.8 Mt/year of CO2 by 2035 and 36 Mt/year by 2050. This will be achieved by demonstrating key technologies across the entire CCS value chain in Europe. The project aims to develop new demonstration projects that connect CO2 sources with potential storage sites.

Context

Context

The project is based on the basic concept of CCS, that is, the process of capturing waste carbon dioxide either directly from the atmosphere or from energy production and industrial plants, and subsequently transporting it to sites for reuse or storage in geological formations.
The COREu project specifically employs advanced chemical absorption techniques to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the carbon capture process.

Vision & Mission

Vision & Mission

Our vision is to accelerate the deployment of CCS at a gigatonne scale to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Our mission is to support organizations on their sustainability journeys, demonstrate disruptive technologies, and generate impactful ideas that resonate throughout the supply chain to the consumer.
