Project progress and future plans discussed.
On June 12, 2025, the COREu consortium gathered at Norway House in Brussels for an important occasion: our first official review meeting. Hosted in the heart of Europe, this gathering brought together all project partners to reflect on our first reporting period of collaborative work and chart the course ahead.
With opening words from SINTEF Energy Research, the meeting began setting the stage for progress presentations and strategic discussion. Each of the project’s Work Package leads shared insights on the work accomplished during the last 16 months - from experimental testing and modeling to stakeholder engagement and digital innovation. We are especially grateful for the constructive feedback provided by our reviewer, Dr. María Moragues Canovas, which will guide and strengthen our activities in the upcoming project phase. Her insights will now be integrated into our upcoming project report and planning documents. Beyond the formal agenda, the review meeting also provided space for networking, creative exchange, and informal collaboration among partners. These conversations opened new pathways for joint work, ideas for future research, and content development that will enrich COREu's outreach.
As we move forward into the next reporting period, the focus will be on deepening collaboration, sharpening our approach, and continuing to turn scientific excellence into real-world solutions for a climate-neutral Europe.
COREu is one of the largest CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) projects currently funded under Horizon Europe. Our ambition is clear: to accelerate the deployment of CCS by addressing real-world challenges across the entire value chain. Whether it’s mitigating the impact of CO₂ impurities, testing alternative injection strategies, building public trust through engagement, or creating a Metaverse platform to visualize the CCS value chain – COREu has laid solid groundwork for innovation and impact.
