COREu is excited be part of the online webinar "Impact of CO2 impurities on the CCUS chain deployment from different perspectives", together with three other EU-funded projects.

In this webinar, we will explore the innovative use of environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling within Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects. In COREu, eDNA is being applied to collect baseline biodiversity data in a Mediterranean CCS setting, offering a novel approach to environmental monitoring. We will discuss the methodology for sampling and analyzing eDNA, focusing on its potential to track species occurrence, including rare and elusive species, over long periods. This session will also highlight the importance of establishing reference locations and biobanks for future use in monitoring the long-term impacts of CCS on biodiversity. Join us to learn how eDNA can play a crucial role in shaping effective and sustainable CCS strategies.

Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) is one of the most promising pathways to achieve net negative CO₂ emissions, combining renewable energy generation with permanent carbon removal. By capturing and storing the CO₂ released during bioenergy production, BECCS can actively reduce greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere.

A unique opportunity to present advances in safe and resilient carbon capture and storage infrastructure at the International Conference on Natural Hazards and Infrastructure (ICONHIC 2026)

From June 16–19, several partners from the COREu project participated in the 13th Trondheim Conference on CO₂ Capture, Transport and Storage (TCCS-13), sharing results developed within the project.

Consortium partners presented progress from the first project year and discussed next steps based on the feedback.

On March 18th and 19th, 2025, the COREu annual meeting took place in Brussels, bringing together nearly 100 participants from 43 partner organizations across 13 countries. This gathering marked a significant milestone in the project's journey, showcasing the collective achievements and future plans of the consortium.

We are excited to announce that COREu will be presented by our esteemed project partner, Saipem, at the upcoming OMC MED ENERGY CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION in Ravenna, Italy.
